3P-Energy develops novel, miniaturised fuel cells for applications in portable electronic devices.
The heart of the development is a unique patented membrane which is fabricated in a cost-efficient process. One of the outstanding properties of the 3P-polymers is the low methanol permeability which is drastically reduced in comparison to conventional PEM.
As the core invention the 3P-membrane enables us to build completely miniaturised PEM fuel cells which were not possible with any other fuel cell concept. Integrated in our fuel cell setup is a patented thin film membrane electrode assembly: the 3P-MEA.
With the thin film process technology we can arrange the 3P-MEAs horizontally on one substrate thus rendering the use of bipolar plates as necessary in conventional fuels stacks useless.
The planar integration and connection of the 3P thin film MEAs allows a most flexible configuration of the fuel cell system in minimized spatial dimensions. In combination with the efficient water/methanol operation mode we can create a fully miniaturised 3P-micro-fuel-cell for portable devices.
